Greater education needed to help tackle modern slavery
Recent reports by the National Crime Agency have suggested that modern slavery is happening in "every UK town and city" and that more needs to be done to help educate the public on how to spot the signs and report any concerns they might have. (

TG would urge each and every one of its Guilds to get in touch with their local police force and/or the NCA to ask for guidance and perhaps even a speaker to attend a meeting and speak on what to look out for and how to follow up on any concerns, including the best person to contact for your area. You could also look into whether there are any other local groups campaigning against modern slavery to pool resources and information - and perhaps even to help run a local awareness-raising event open to the general public, spreading that crucial knowledge even further.
The authorities know they have an uphill battle to fight, but the more people there are out there who know what to look for and how to respond, the better chance they have of saving more victims of modern slavery and bringing those responsible to justice.
