2018 Guildford: TG's Southern National Carol Service

The first of TG’s three 2018 National Carol Services took place in Surrey at The Cathedral Church of the Holy Spirit, Guildford, commonly known as Guildford Cathedral.

This imposing Cathedral was designed by Edward Maufe and was built between 1936 and 1961.

The Service was conducted by Canon Paul Thompson and the National Chairman National Trustees, The Worshipful The Mayor of Guildford, Councillor Mike Parsons, and The Mayoress, Mrs Jean Parsons, were joined by over 600 TG members.

The Choir, the Guildford Cathedral Singers, were under the guidance of their Conductor, John Bawden.

In the hour long Service there were Carols, the signing of the TG Anthem, ‘I am a small part of the World’ and Readings on the Six Gifts:

Gift One - Love
Gift Two - Joy

Gift Three - Peace

Gift Four - Patience

Gift Five - Friendship

Gift Six - Jesus

Before the last Carol, National Chairman, Jenny Rideout read a poem, the theme of which was friendship.
