Speakers' Secretary's Report from AGM 2019-20
April 2019
Angela Young came to speak to us regarding the Aristocrat and the Able Seaman. A very good speaker. The aristocrat was a relative of hers and she recounted how they had met at the evacuation of the Titanic.
May
Paul Harmon came to speak to us with his lovely new Guide Dog to explain the work the Guide Dogs for the Blind and how his dogs had improved his life.
June
Summer Tea Party
Sadly our entertainer did not turn up but Sheila Plant kindly stepped in and told us about Beatrix Potter’s life.
July
Richard Griffin came to tell us about his role as a Royal Protection Officer, recounting many amusing anecdotes but still keeping the privacy element of his role.

Coffee Morning

Peter Thompson Barrister returned to tell us of his early years as I lawyer and his first appearance in court, very amusing.
October
Elizabeth Lanyon talked about Prinny and the Royal Scandals, and had also brought along copies of pictures and cartoons featuring Prinny. She made our current Royal family appear very mundane by comparison. Yvonne Huber thanked her for a very interesting talk.
November
Birthday Lunch at The Chateau.
December
We had a Christmas tea and Sarah Winters brought Angela with her and they regaled us with Christmas music and carols played on handbells. It was very seasonal.
January 2020
Mary Folenza came to tell us about various Great Lovers a lot of them being naughty royals.
February
Glenda Law came to speak to us on the topic of Street Furniture. This covered some very unexpected aspects and was very entertaining with many slides.
March
AGM and Drama Production - Postponed.
