We were privileged to have a visit from Robert Sticlkland. He is a local man, who, after visiting Hamworthy St Michael's Church, and examining the World War 1 War Memorial in the churchyard and the corresponding tablet inside the church, felt compelled to find out more about each of the 34 men named.He then set about a six year period of researching each and every one of them, resulting in a book, 'Gone but not Forgotten', in which he details the life and family, work, service record , where and when they lost their lives and the location of their graves, if known, and on which of the international memorials their names may be found. It is a truly moving book and story of these men, and of Robert's determination that they would forever be more than just a name on a memorial.
