January meeting

Our speaker for January 2023 meeting was Robert Booth from Bourneville talking about The Sweet Life of Bourneville. He told us about the Bournville village trust which was very interesting. Bournewille was previously know as Bournebrook before houses were added. In 1951 chocolate was still rationed but today they make one hundred million creme eggs, 400 million buttons, 1 million whispas, 10 million roses. Bournewille chocolate was invented about 1910 chocolate was made by using condensed milk as opposed to powered milk used abroad. In 1932 the foundtain outside of the factory was added to commemorate 100 years of Bourneville, The best bit was that he brought with him samples to taste.
