Chairman's Report from AGM 2018-2019
At this point 12 months ago I announced that 2018/19 would be my
final year as your Chairman. And as you
will learn, Elizabeth Baigent will be stepping into my shoes for the
foreseeable future. I trust that you
will support her as you have supported me over the nine years.
I cannot thank the committee members I have served with, or the
members in general, enough for everything they have done to ensure that our Guild
has grown substantially in numbers and related financial health over the last
decade. When all is said and done, it is
the membership that is key to our Guild’s enviable success. We have been able to fill vacancies with new
blood that has engendered new ideas, and made us capable of providing the types
of monthly programmes that have ensured our success as a long standing organisation
in the neighbourhood.
I have felt
privileged to be your leader, to have made so many good friends, shared similar
interests and the ideals that TG is all about.
The AGM is an opportunity to look back on a year and assess what
is needed to sustain our effectiveness in the future. Many organisations fail because they do not
give new potential a chance. Without
this type of progression you put your organisation in danger of slow
decay. I have also stood down from the
committee to make room for younger, more energetic members to play their part
in future planning. Please welcome them
and give them your whole-hearted support.
