August 2019

Woodley Townswomen's Guild members were delighted to receive an award at the Townswomen's Guild National AGM this year. We were presented with the Membership Salver for recruiting the most new members for last year. This was proudly displayed at our next meeting.

As well as holding our usual monthly meetings our members have been busy so far this summer. We had a lovely day out to Gloucestershire, visiting Bourton-on-the-Water, where we all enjoyed the shops and cafes, and then Stanway House, where we had a tour of the Jacobean manor house and then were impressed by the famous 300 feet single-jet fountain, the highest in Britain and the highest gravity fountain in the world. We have also enjoyed the Berkshire Federation 90thBirthday Tea Dance, a theatre trip to Oxford to see “Joseph” and a delicious afternoon tea at Riseley Tea Rooms.

In addition to the various sub-groups which continue to meet regularly we are looking forward to an evening social with music in October, a trip to a Cockney Matinee and another theatre trip to see “The Mousetrap”. Our committee is also planning ahead for our Christmas meal.
