More Information

We are a small, very friendly Guild and will be celebrating our 55th year in May 2018.  We currently have 33 members and are delighted to have welcomed new members during 2017-18.  Our monthly meetings include a wide range of speakers covering topics as diverse as the Croydon Almshouses, the London Fire Brigade, the RNLI, the exploits of Edward 7th (Edward the Caresser!) and the Celebration of Spring in amusing and touching verse. We have a number of active interest groups - gardening, monthly walkabouts to places of interest locally and in London, whist and board games.  We enjoy regular visits to the theatre and cinema.  One of our members offers open house afternoons at which she provides delicious tea and cakes together with the opportunity for members to try arts and crafts if interested.  Some of our members enjoy meeting up once a month at a local pub for lunch and a chat. We always celebrate our Birthday in May with lunch at a local restaurant and in August our usual meeting is replaced by a trip out for afternoon tea.  More celebrations take place in December for the festive season - in 2017 we had a fun-filled party with a singer and games and we will have a New Year’s lunch out to celebrate 2018 out so we certainly know how to enjoy ourselves!  In March we got together with our friends at Shirley Evening TG for a quiz evening to raise money for Comic Relief.  It was so successful that we plan a repeat on March 17th 2018 to celebrate St Patrick’s Day!  In June 2017 we organised a coach trip to Brighton and enjoyed a very interesting tour of the Pavilion but also an opportunity for some retail therapy!

We have a full calendar of interesting speakers and events during 2018:
