More Information

Our Guild was established 53 years ago and we currently have 47 members.  Some members have recently joined, three have received their 40 year service badges and two were presented with their 50 year badges and certificates at our recent birthday party .

We have several popular activity groups which meet regularly and include a Book Club, Scrabble, Cribbage, Rummikub, Canasta and an Arts and Crafts Section.

The Garden Club is another favourite which runs from March to October.  The group have plant swaps and visit gardens and garden centres locally, in London and further afield.

We also have a coffee morning once a month for members to catch up with each other and have a general chat.

In addition to the above groups we organize regular outings to places of interest.  Last year a group of about 20 ladies visited Buckingham Palace for a tour of the State Rooms and to see a special exhibition of the outfits worn by the Queen over the past 90 years.  We have also visited Kensington Palace to see the dresses worn by Princess Diana.  We have recently visited Clarence House.

Our monthly meetings are always very enjoyable, varied and well attended.  The programme until the AGM in March 2018 is as follows:
19 April - 55th Birthday Party.  Entertainment: Andrew Charalambous
17th May - A day in the life of an antiques dealer.  Mr Laikin.
21 June - My life as bodyguard to the Royal Family.  Richard Griffin.
19 July - A flower demonstration.  Karen Holmes.
20 September - A visit from Waitrose. Mr Duckhouse.
18 October - Fish and chip supper and quiz.
15 November - A Talk on Old Croydon. Carol Roberts.
20 December - Christmas Party.
17 January - How to be and not to be an Edwardian Lady. Elizabeth Lanyon.
21 February - My family and other meerkats. Mel Rees.
21 March - AGM.

Our charity for last year was St. Christopher's, which is a local hospice, and with the proceeds from a Bring & Buy Sale and other donations we have sent them £200.00.

Our charity for 2017 is Parkinson UK.

We are always pleased for new members to join our guild and they will always receive a warm, friendly welcome.
